Light dependent part of photosynthesis is concerned with production of ATP and NADPH2 utilizing solar energy.

Light independent part of photosynthesis involves reduction of CO2 to C6H12O6.

Explanation:

Photosynthesis consists of 2 steps:

1.Light reaction or Hill's reaction
2.Dark reaction or Blackmann's reaction

In light reaction, solar energy is entrapped by chlorophyll pigment. Solar energy is converted into chemical energy in the form of ATP molecules. This is termed by photophosphorylation . Hydrolysis of water occurs to liberate O2 and reducing power in the form of NADPH2 is produced.

Dark reaction involves reduction of CO2 to glucose ( C6H12O6) utilizing ATPs and NADPH2 produced during light reaction.

Dark reaction thus can occur independent of light but is dependent upon the end products of the light-dependent reaction.
