What is the graph of the function y=3x2?

This is a linear equation, the graph of a line.

This function is in slope intercept form, y=mx+b.

m is the slope
b is the y-intercept

In this example the slope is =riserun=3=31 and the y-intercept is 2.

If you are graphing by hand you would start by placing a point on the y-axis at position (0,2).

From point (0,2) you would rise ,go up, 3 units then to the right 1 unit.

Or

From point (0,2) you would go down 3 units and then to the left 1 unit.

Notice the green box that is placed on the starting point (0,2), the y-intercept .
