What is the name of NO3− ?

the information i can get keeps saying that it's nitrate, but isn't nitrate NO−3 ?

Explanation:

Likely, NO3− is a typo, when nitrate anion, NO−3 was intended. AFAIK there is no such beast as NO3−. On the other hand, there is a nitride anion, N−3, the conjugate base of hydrazoic acid, HN3.
