We know from here that #pH+pOH=14#. And this has to be committed to memory.

Explanation:

So we calculate #pOH#, i.e. #pOH=-log_10(1.62xx10^-3)=2.79#. This is by definition of #p# function.

But #pH=14-2.79# from the above, so #pH=??#

Is this an acidic or basic solution? Why?
