I find it is most helpful to solve the domain over which the function exists.

In this case 4-x^2>=0 which means -2<=x<=2

On this domain, the smallest value the function can take is zero and the largest value it can take is sqrt(4)=2

Hence, the the range of the function is {yinRR|0<=y<=2}
