I imagine you're referring to its multiplicative ability to semi-conservatively replicate.

If we start with one parent strand, each subsequent cycle results in double the progeny (F) as there were parents (n),

#F = 2n#

In this way, we may go from one to over one-thousand sets of DNA in approximately 10 cycles.
