Explanation:

The easiest way of thinking about the combination of ions is by using the method I recall as being called , "the swap and drop"

So we have two ions,

Cu^(2+)Cu2+ and N^(3-)N3

now we swap the charge of each and drop, Note that the two ions have to be of opposite charge.

Cu_"3"Cu3 and N_2N2

Now combine,

Cu_"3"N_"2"Cu3N2

This is the simplest formula.
