The slope is oo and line is vertical and parallel to yy-axis

Explanation:

The slope of a line joining two points (x_1,y_1)(x1,y1) and (x_2,y_2)(x2,y2) is

(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)y2y1x2x1

Hence slope of line joining (-2,8)(2,8) and (-2,-1)(2,1) is

(-1-8)/(-2-(-2))182(2)

= -9/0=oo90=

Hence the line joining (-2,8)(2,8) and (-2,-1)(2,1) has oo slope i.e. it is perpendicular meaning parallel to yy-axis.
