What is the slope of the line passing through the following points: (-1,3) ,(-3, -6) ?

1 Answer

First of all you need the formula of the slope which is
(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)
Then use these values and place them in their designated places
y_2= -6
y_1=3
x_2=-3
x_1=-1
so: (-6-3)/(-3-(-1))

(-9)/(-3+1) Remember (-)*(-) is (+)

(-9)/(-2)

so gradient is 4.5
remember to cancel out the - sign
