The slope is (Delta y)/(Delta x)=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1).

Explanation:

Choose which point will be the first and which the second.
Let's choose: P_1=(-7,-2) and P_2=(5,9)

The slope is:
(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)=(9-(-2))/(5-(-7))=(9+2)/(5+7)=11/12

If you choose P_1=(5,9) and P_2=(-7,-2) the slope don't change.
