To find the y-intercept, I need to put this equation into slope-intercept form (well, I don't need to, but it makes it a lot easier).

x - 2y = -6

-2y = -x - 6

(now I can multiply both sides by -1 to get a fully positive equation)

2y = x + 6

y = (x+6)/2

y = 1/2x + 6/2

y = 1/2x + 3

So, the y-intercept is 3.
