When ROH dissociate as #RO^-# and #H^+# , it shows acidic character.In this case, when alcohol reacts with Metal ( ROH + NaH = ROM + H2),Esterification (#RO^18H# + CH3COOH = #CH3COO^18R# + H2O) and Acid chloride (RCOCl + ROH = RCOOR +HCl).
