In the spinal cord the synapse between the sensory and motor neurons occurs in the grey matter.
Explanation:
Grey matter of the spinal cord in known as the grey column , which travels down the spinal cord .
The grey matter of the spinal cord is split into three grey columns :
-
Anterior grey column
It contains motor neurons which synapse with interneurons and the axons of cells that travel down the pyramidal tract . -
Posterior grey column
This contains the points where sensory neurons synapse. -
Lateral grey column
It is primarily involved with activity in the sympathetic division of the autonomic motor system.
