The brain and the spinal cord of humans are part of the central nervous system. Generally, it integrates information it receives from the other parts of the body and it also sends signals to the rest of the body to produce action.
The peripheral nervous system on the other hand is composed of all the nerves and ganglia that are not part of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). Its main function is to connect the central nervous system (CNS) to the limbs and the organs of the body.
