Galaxy is a form of gravitationally bound system that consists of stars, stellar remnants, interstellar gas, dust, and dark matter.
Explanation:
It's hard to explain why exactly our universe has galaxies, but I guess it is because specifically in the place of a certain galaxy the amount of gravitational pull is strong enough to pull together the close objects like stars, stellar remnants, etc (look at the answer).
