Peripheral vision is a part of vision that occurs outside the very centre of gaze and it is the largest portion of our visual field.
Explanation:
The main functions of peripheral vision are :-
1) recognition of well known structures and forms with no need to focus by the fovea like line of sight.
2) identification of similar forms and movements
3) delivery of sensation which form the background of detailed visual perception.
The loss of peripheral vision results in a condition known as tunnel vision.
