The USA abandoned its Isolationist tradition

Explanation:

The Start of the Spanish American War marked the end of Ioslationism in American History, for the first time the USA would decide to take an active role abroad in foreign affairs by taking military actions.

It also had similar features than all the wars of aggression than the US joined such as War propaganda( with the Yellow Press embodied by people such as Pulitzer or Hearst) or the use of a Pear Harbor type event with the sinking of the USS Maine in February 1898 in Havana Harbor which served as a pretext.
