This looks like my least favourite kind of Socratic question - a homework question that seeks a creative answer. Rather than provide a neatly turned out answer, let's try to think this through together.
Here are some things we might notice that writing a book and making a clock have in common:
- It is a creative act.
- It requires prior experience on similar but simpler tasks.
- It requires planning and design.
- The finished product has both an overall structure and purpose.
- The finished product contains smaller structures that fit together to achieve the overall purpose.
- There are many different choices of material, shape, size, etc.
- It is possible to use well established patterns or to innovate.
- It is likely that some people will like and others dislike the finished product.
So there are a few ideas. You might try to think of some more. From here we would want to reformulate a selection of the bullet points as a coherent piece of prose.
