Explanation:

There are two methods that I know of.

One from the old school is to conduct long division. As far as I can ascertain this site's formatting capabilities would make that hard to present.

The other is to factorise and see if we can cancel out.

Lets try the latter:

Write as:

(6x+9)/(2x+3)6x+92x+3

But 6x+9 = 3(2x+3)6x+9=3(2x+3)

Substitute giving:

(3(2x+3))/(2x+3)3(2x+3)2x+3

3 times (2x+3)/(2x+3)3×2x+32x+3

but

(2x+3)/(2x+3) =12x+32x+3=1

leaving just 3 as the answer
