Acid rain is takes place when the oxides of Nitrogen and Sulphur accumulate and mix with the Rain water making it Acidic in nature.

This can be explained by the following Equation-
Involving : `SO_2`

`2 SO_2` + `O_2` ==> `2 SO_3`
`SO_3` + `H_2O` ==> `H_2SO_4` `color(red)(Acid R)`.

Involving : `NO_2`

`2 NO` + `O_2` ==> `2NO_2`
`NO_2` + `H_2O` ==> `2HNO_3` `color(red)(Acid R)`

And this accumulation happens when we burn Fossil Fuels. So, reduction in burning of Fossil fuels could become a big hand of help in reducing Acid rain.

Some industries such as rubber, Oil etc. contribute the oxides of Sulphur and Nitrogen to the atmospheric clouds. So taking this factories off from the main town and establishing them in the outskirts would be a good idea.
Also we can recycle the waste instead of dumping it into the rivers or land.

Also, by using Bicycles and Walking short distances can become a helping hand for reducing acid rain. We should promote our society to use Bicycles or prefer to walking for short distances.

It can also be reduced if we use the Alternative Sources of energy such as the Solar, Wind and Water energies. It would be less harmful to the human life as it will not emit out the The harmful gasses `SO_2` and `NO_2`.

One more Scientific way through which you can reduce the impacts of acid rain is by adding Lime to Acid lakes. It reduces the acidity of the lake but this is very expensive and is also just a short term remedy.
