Because of the transitive property...

$- 6 x - 3 = 3$ $-6x-3=3$

Add $3$ $3$ to both sides...

$- 6 x = 6$ $-6x=6$

Divide both sides by $- 6$ $-6$

$x = - 1$ $x=-1$
