the equation is in the form of $a x^{2} + b x + c = d$ $ax^2 + bx +c = d$
to complete a square we divide ${(\frac{b}{2})}^{2}$ $(b/2)^2$ and substitute it for $c$ $c$ , and add/subtract the same on the other side with $d$ $d$ .
then solve for $x$ $x$
$x^{2} + 2 x + 1 = 5 + 1$ $x^2 +2x + 1=5+1$
${(x + 1)}^{2} = 6$ $(x+1)^2 = 6$
