When the elevator is rising with an acceleration $a = g$ $a=g$ :
Scale will show that weight $W = m (g + g) = 2 m g$ $W=m(g + g) = 2mg$ .
When the elevator is moving down with an acceleration $a = - g$ $a=-g$ :
Scale will show that weight $W = m (g - g) = 0$ $W=m(g - g) = 0$ .
