A solid disk, spinning counter-clockwise, has a mass of 6kg and a radius of 85m. If a point on the edge of the disk is moving at 125ms in the direction perpendicular to the disk's radius, what is the disk's angular momentum and velocity?

The angular momentum is =72.4kgms1
The angular velocity is =9.42rads1

Explanation:

The angular velocity is

ω=vr

where,

v=125ms1

r=85m

So,

ω=125852π=3π=9.42rads1

The angular momentum is L=Iω

where I is the moment of inertia

For a solid disc, I=mr22

So, I=6(85)22=19225kgm2

L=9.4219225=72.4kgms1
