P(2,3,12) = 4/36 = 1/9

Explanation:

If you toss the die twice, there are 6xx6 = 36 different outcomes.
Each of the 6 numbers for the first throw can be combined with each of the same six for the second throw.

Of those 36 outcomes, we only want:

a total of 2" "rarr this can only come from 1+1=2
a total of 3" "rarr this can come from 1+2=3 or 2+1=3
a total of 12" "rarr this can only come from 6+6=12

So, of the total of 36 possible outcomes, there are only 4 that we want.

P(2,3,12) = 4/36 = 1/9
