How do you find the magnitude of the horizontal and vertical components if the initial point is (-3,8) and the terminal point is (4, 10)?

Magnitude can be calculated using the distance formula. It is essentially the distance between the initial point and terminal point.

mag=sqrt((4-(-3))^2+(10-8)^2)=sqrt(49+4)=sqrt(53)mag=(4(3))2+(108)2=49+4=53

component form is found by essentially adding the x & y coordinates

<(-3+4), (8+10)> = <1, 18><(3+4),(8+10)>=<1,18>
