Elevate four to both sides

4log2(x1)=4log4(x+1)

Since aloga(b)=b we can simplify the RHS

4log2(x1)=x+1

But since 4=22

22log2(x1)=x+1

So we have

(x1)2=x+1

Expanding

x22x+1=x+1
x22xx+11=0
x23x=0

The roots are x=0 and x=3
