Since $x^{2} - 4 x + 4$ $x^2-4x+4$ is already a square there isn't really any "completing" to be done.

$x^{2} - 4 x + 4 = 100$ $x^2-4x+4 =100$

${(x - 2)}^{2} = 100$ $(x-2)^2 = 100$

$x - 2 = \pm 10$ $x-2=+-10$

$x = 12$ $x=12$ or $x = - 8$ $x=-8$
