$x = \pm \sqrt[4]{8}$ $x=+-root(4)(8)$

Explanation:

Note there is no "pretty" version of this solution.

As an alternate expression:
$XXX x^{4} = 8$ $color(white)("XXX")x^4=8$

$XXX \to x^{2} = \sqrt{8} = 2 \sqrt{2}$ $color(white)("XXX")rarr x^2=sqrt(8)=2sqrt(2)$

$XXX \to x = \pm \sqrt{2 \sqrt{2}}$ $color(white)("XXX")rarr x=+-sqrt(2sqrt(2))$

...but this is really just the same as $\sqrt[4]{8}$ $root(4)(8)$
