A whole series of enzymes "makes" glucose and other carbohydrates from pyruvate.
Fatty acid synthase (FAS) "makes" fatty acids.
Mammalian FAS is a multi-enzyme protein. It consists of a chain of about 2500 amino acids and has a molecular mass of 544 000 u.
FAS catalyzes the conversion of acetate units to palmitic acid. Other enzymes then convert the palmitic acid to other lipids.
Many different enzymes synthesize nucleotides. A common starting component is ribose or deoxyribose.
