LaTeX/MathJax: How to format in biography and/or comments?

So far, I've discovered that I CAN use LaTeX in my biography (and comments). However, experimentation with the rest of Socratic's answer features (i.e. bold , lists, URLs, images) doesn't seem to get me anywhere.

Is there any comprehensive list/assist for formatting text on the site?

Here's how you can do that.

Explanation:

You're right, you can use LaTeX/MathJax/AsciiMath in your biography and in the comments sections.

Basically, anything that you can write using hashtags will work on your profile page, in the comments sections, and in personal notes.

However, the text markup tools available in the answer editors, i.e. bold and italic text, bullet and numbered lists, graphs, images, and hyperlinks, will not work on your profile page, in the comments sections, and in personal notes.

So, for example, if you want to use the comments sections to share an image, you have to copy/paste the URL of the website that hosts the image, meaning that you cannot upload an image in the comments sections.

Alternatively, you can use a site that offers free image hosting to upload your image and copy/paste the URL of the image in the comments sections.

You can add bold text [I don't think that you can get italic text, though] to the comments sections, in personal notes, or on your profile page, but you have to do so using the math formatting.

• the math formatting `->` you can use it everywhere on the site
• the text markup tools `->` you can only use them in the answer editors
