Robert had one can of almonds and divided it unequally 3 ways.

$\frac{1}{4} + \frac{1}{6} + x = 1$ $1/4 + 1/6 + x = 1$

Creating a common denominator gives you:

$\frac{3}{12} + \frac{2}{12} + x = \frac{12}{12}$ $3/12 + 2/12 + x = 12/12$

Then solving for $x$ $x$ gives:
