Explanation:
Supersaturation is a metastable condition. It describes a solution that contains an amount of solute that is GREATER than the amount that would be in equilibrium with undissolved solute.
Of course, if you add a site of nucleation, a scratch on the side of the glass vessel, or a crystal, the solute might crash out. After this occurs how would you describe the solution: saturated; unsaturated; impossible to tell?
