$y$ $y$ varies directly with $x$ $x$

$\Rightarrow y = k x$ $=> y = kx$

if $x = 4$ $x = 4$ , then $y = 2$ $y = 2$

$\Rightarrow 2 = k (4)$ $=> 2 = k(4)$

#=> 4k = 2

$\Rightarrow k = \frac{1}{2}$ $=> k = 1/2$

$\Rightarrow y = \frac{1}{2} x$ $=> y =1/2x$
