Muscles are designed to contract.
Explanation:
Muscles are of two types Voluntary and involuntary. Muscles are formed of many units called sarcomeres. Each sarcomere is with two contractile proteins actin and myosin. When calcium ions are available in sarcomere due to interaction of actin and myosin filaments sarcomere contracts. Actually this process is complicated. But in short muscles are designed to contract.
