since there is a modulus, it shows that the equation can either be negative or positive; hence we will get 2 answers

Explanation:

write out the 2 equations that are possible
x + 8 < 16 and -x-8 < 16
from the first equation we get x < 8 and from the second we would get -x < 24 which would become x > 24

thus, the solution from the graph should be when x is larger than 24 and when x is smaller than 8

For graphing, i would graph y = 16 and y = x+8 ( remember to reflect the negative portion of the second graph about the x axis)
