  Covalent bonds are named based on their nature.

  Covalency occurs when 2 or more atoms share their electrons so that they get they get their octet of electrons.

  Now

  Something like this

  `Mg0` will be called magnesium oxide

  `CO_2` will be called carbon dioxide

  `H_2 O_2` This is what we call hydrogen peroxide(PS DO NOT CONFUSE WITH REGULAR OXIDES AS IT HAS TO HAVE `O^-2_2 ION`

  okay and compounds with 3 carbon atoms are called trioxides..

  `P_2 0_5` this phosphorus pentoxide.
