An integer is also called a whole number .

Explanation:

It is not usual for square roots to be integers.
This only happens if the number under de root is a square.
This is because square-rooting is just the opposite operation from squaring.

sqrtxx means: give me the number of which xx is the square.

Example with non-integer:
sqrt2=1.414213562... (this goes on, but NO calculator can give all the decimals), because 1.414213562...^2=2
