You put a point on -2 on the y-axis. Then you go up 2 and to the left 3 because the left means negative. ((+2)/(-3))

Or you can go down 2 (negative) and to the right 3 (positive).
((-2)/(+3))

You can't go left and down ((-)/(-))or up and right (+/+) because the that will give a positive and the slope is negative.
