You follow two rules.

The name of the alkane is formed by replacing the final $-e$ $color(red)("–e")$ of the name of the parent alkane with $-al$ $color(red)("–al")$ .
The carbon atom in the aldehyde group is automatically #1, so the "1" is not included in the name.

Examples

${CH}_{3} {CH}_{2} {CH}_{2} CHO$ $"CH"_3"CH"_2"CH"_2"CHO"$ is butanal.

${CH}_{3} {CHBrCH}_{2} CHO$ $"CH"_3"CHBrCH"_2"CHO"$ is 3-bromobutanal.

$C_{6} H_{5} {CHClCH}_{2} CHO$ $"C"_6"H"_5"CHClCH"_2"CHO"$ is 3-chloro-3-phenylpropanal.
